Bilingual education is offered from Level IV (4-year-old- students). The content of the teaching program follows national guidelines in an interdisciplinary manner, with 50% of classes in English and 50% in Portuguese. Other languages are offered during the process. Students have Spanish lessons in the 9th grade and French in High school. Why does the bilingual context exist?

Students are encouraged to read constantly at Marie Jost and according to the English coordinator, they are really passionate about reading activities.

arts

Students learn different types of art through the use of English.

According to the English coordinator, the second language is introduced to students in a fun and natural way, so that children gradually acquire a linguistic repertoire and become fluent in English. The coordinator also says that new students that come from different schools tend to have some difficulty to follow the pace at the beginning, but they end up catching up after they get used to the routine. In order to organize better the students, Marie Jost began classifying their levels according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) in 2018. Language barriers 8
