1. Definiton of abstract
The abstract is the part of the article that summarizes the study, it usually is
on one paragraph of max 300 words or less, it highlights major aspects of
the entire paper in a prescribed sequence.
2. Definition of Introduction
It establishes the background of the study, it is conducted by summarizing
current understanding adds more info, the purpose is set and supports the
hypothesis or sets a question.
3. Definition of methods
Describes the actions that were taken to investigate the problem or issue
and the application of a specific procedure to understand the problem.
4. Definition of objective (research problema)
It’s a statement that concerns the researcher, a difficulty to be eliminated or
a question that needs to be understood.
5. Definition of results
The results are where the findings of the study are reported based on the
methodology applied on a logical sequence.
6. Definition of discussion
The discussion is the one in charge of interpret and describe the findings of
the study in relation of the information already known and be explained to a
new understanding.
7. Definition of conclusion
Is intended to help reader understand why the research matters, it´s a small
synthesis of key points and recommendations for future studies, one or two
paragraphs are sufficient.
8. Types of abstracts & definitons
Critical abstract: it provides and describes main findings and info,
judgment, or comment about the study´s validity, reliability or
completeness, the researcher evaluates the paper and compares it
with other studies, it has between 400-500 words, and it´s
infrequently used.
Descriptive abstract: it indicates the type of info found in the work, it
makes no judgment about the study, it doesn´t provide results or
conclusions, it incorporates keywords found on text, it summarizes
the work, it has about 100 words.

 Informative abstract: the majority are this type, it doesn´t judge or evaluate the study, acts as surrogate for the work itself, the researcher presents and explains the main info and evidence, it may have a descriptive abstract, like the purpose and methods, it doesn´t include results and conclusion, the length varies but is no more 300 words.  Highlight abstract: is written to attract the reader’s attention, it is not made to be balanced or complete, it only sparks reader´s interest, it can´t stand independently of the article, not a true abstract, rarely used on academic writing.

  1. Types of research problems & definitions  Casuist: relates to the determination of right or wrong questions of actions analyzing moral dilemmas by applicating rules on special cases.  Difference: it asks a question, is there a difference between two or more groups or treatments?, it is used to compare two or more dilemmas.  Descriptive: it asks what is ?, the purpose is to describe a situation, state or existence of a issues that may be hidden, understudied or revealing.  Relational: it suggests a relationship between 2 or + variables, the purpose is to investigate a specific quality or characteristic that may be connected.
  2. Sources of problems for investigation  Deduction from theory: relates deductions made from philosophy or thoughts made in life or society that the researcher is familiar with.  Interdisciplinary perspective: comes from academic thoughts originated in disciplines outside the study, it includes examining research from other disciplines that can reveal new information.  Interviewing practitioners: teachers, health professionals, social workers, lawyers, etc. offer a chance to identify real problems that may be understudied or ignored.  Personal experience: observation of some relationships where it isn´t clear the explanation of an event to a person or group of persons that is extraordinary.  Relevant literature: authors finish the studies by noticing further research.
  3. Problems to avoid from each section ( for example: Mention 2 problems to avoid in the results section)  Abstract: It doesn´t have to have redundant phrases, unnecessary adverbs, and repetitive information, lengthy background, or information.  Introduction: give dictionary definition of words and not specify terminology, not offer detailed information.
