Being Latino is not something that is easily explained, because each one of us is different, although there is always something that characterizes us, and what we have in common. It could be said that being Latino is more than an ethnicity, a skin color, and a language. Being Latino is an essence, a way of being, it is a culture and customs that differentiate us from every other region. Culture, In my opinion, culture is the customs of a group of people, traditions that pass from generation to generation, types of dances, their music, their food, in conclusion, culture is what characterizes and often differentiates a group of people from others. Because even on the same street, each house can have a different culture and customs. So, the Latinos and their culture are very characteristic depending on where they are, Dominicans, for example, are very characterized by our way of being, our way of treating others, whether we know them or not. Our joy, our spark that is our own and unique, and that differentiates us from any other culture or country. Another not so abstract characteristic that differentiates Latinos, from Asians or any other culture or region, is our physical features. In each country or region people have different features, sometimes it is easy to identify a Latino among many Asians just by their physical features, but in my opinion, it is often easier to identify ourselves as Latinos by our way of being, our culture and customs than by our physical features. In conclusion, being Latino is more than skin color or hair shape. Being Latino is our customs, our dances, our music, and the way we always want to help each other. 1
