What are you eating?
I think that I make the best choices with my diet when it involves what
I drink. About 3 months ago I’ve started drinking nothing but water
and light colored sodas like sprite. I just now cut all soda and sugary
drinks from my diet. Another thing I made the choice to do was
switch my family from white bread to wheat bread. They were scared
it was going to taste dierent but everyone agreed after trying it that
it tasted the same. I think that I still have some improving to do with
my diet though. I think that I need to decrease how many sugary
snacks I have a day. I also think I need to resize my portions and
start eating smaller portions than what I do. The long term
consequences of eating a poor diet over an extended period of time
are the following: increased risk of cardiovascular disease, ostreopsis
and cancer. A healthy diet can help you study better, have more
energy and stay focused especially in a school setting. I have many
goals on how I want to be and stay healthy. A short term goal I have
is to decrease how many sugary snacks I eat. Another short-term
goal I have is to start eating more whole grain foods like whole grain
pasta or oatmeal. In addition to that goal, I also have the short term
goal of filling our pantry/fridge with healthy foods so my family and I
can make a more healthier choice. A long term goal I have is to not
eat anymore sugary drinks or food. Another long term goal I have is
to make healthier dinners. My mom makes a lot of pasta dinners so I
want to change the pasta we usually buy to whole grain pasta. Some
steps I would take to ensure I achieve my goals are to go with my
mom when she goes grocery shopping. This way I can look at the
nutrition label and get the healthier option. Another step I could take
is to start decreasing the sugary snacks I have each day. Like one
day I could only have 2 sugary snacks then the next day I could only
have one and so on. After this assignment I was shocked at how
many calories I have a day. After this assignment I have realized the
changes I need to make to my diet in order to live a healthy lifestyle.
