The Ted Talk video "Three ways to Speak English" helped me understand who I am as a person. I felt inspire and motivate after watching the video. The video made me realize don't be afraid or embarrassed when I mistakenly use my Ebonics language in class or work but to respect it. The author Jamila help me know I'm not Stupid and not to look down on myself. This video was very emotional because, during my first year at Winston Salem State University, a professor named Dr. Hairston informed me my speech was terrible. I thanked God for her because I enrolled in a speech class and writing class at Forsyth Tech. I was so behind I could not speak correctly or write. So, I took a speech class at Forsyth Tech and learned how to apply my native tongue articulately in the right setting. Jamila Lyiscott said she knows she had to borrow the American language because another race took her speech. I agree because our Ebonics language has been imprinted in a dictionary by Aaron Peckham, a Caucasian male. Language diversity is one's language, instead of spoken or written. Each culture has words/phrases unique to them; for example, just because a child speaks Spanish, many dialects are unique to regions and cultures. Even the phrasing of words can be unique. No two people in the world are alike, and no two people will understand the same sentence the same way. As a teacher, I strive to learn more and try to understand constantly. I try to incorporate words, phrases, content to include all of my students in class. Students cannot learn a language without knowing the culture first. Neither can a language be taught without the teacher. Therefore, I am also careful when I correct any student's English. I never want one of my students to go home and tell their parents they are wrong. I try to phrase things like," in school
