Can express less affection toward parents; sometimes might seem rude or short-tempered. Can feel stress from more challenging schoolwork. May be at greater risk for developing eating problems. May be more inclined to feel sadness or experience depression, which can have impacts on other areas of life. THINKING AND LEARNING Has greater ability for complex thought, demonstrating a shift from concrete to abstract thinking. Also demonstrates an increased attention span. Is significantly below grade level expectations academically. Is better able to express feelings through talking.
