  1. There are two types of islands i) oceanic, which tend to be formed by volcanic eruptions and ii) continental, which are formed when pieces of a continent become isolated. Giving named examples discuss the types of floras that typically tend to be associated with each.
  2. Describe meiosis and giving examples describe the formation of auto- and allo-polyploids and their importance to humans.
  3. Contrast and compare traditional plant breeding mechanisms with genetic engineering. Give advantages and disadvantages of both.
  4. Discuss why plant species and the genetic diversity within species should be conserved and the methods currently being researched and used for this purpose.
