Monday - Money.

Today we will be learning to understand the value of coins.

Counting

Practice your number

bonds song to 10.

Use either the song

you have learnt in class

or you could try

and create your own.

Discover - Look at the picture, discuss and work
out the answers to the questions below.

Tip – ‘p’ stands for penny/pence. ‘£’ stands for pound. Challenge – Label all of the coins. What is in the two trays? Do you recognise any of the coins? Can you name any of them? Have a look at real coins if you have any. What do they look like? Can you describe them?

Think Together – Model this part and explain how
to solve it.
Think Together – Encourage your child to help
you solve.

Which coin is the biggest value? Which is the smallest value?

Value means how much a
coin is worth not the size
of the coin.

Start with your child’s group work (they will know which group they are in), once you have finished your group work then you can try the next work. There is an extra challenge for all to try!

Circle group

Pentagon group

Challenge

1. Pick a coin.
2. Describe the coin – you could think about
the shape, colour, size or what it is worth.
(Do not say which coin it is)
3. Get a friend or member of your family to
guess which coin you are thinking of.
Did they get it right?

Reflect My coin is silver. It is worth more than a 5p but less than a 50p. It could have been a 10p or 20p.

Have you shown one of our British Values/SMSC today? Which have you shown? Can you explain how? You may have shown individual liberty by choosing or thinking of your own explanation. You may have shown mutual respect by listening to others.

Counting

Pick any number from 0-100. Can you find what 1 more/1 less is? Challenge – 2 more/2 less or 10 more/ less? What will happen to the numbers? Will they get bigger or smaller? Use the 100 square on the next page to help you!
