Step 2 (15 minutes): Explain to the pupils that they will give their opinions in a bit using

their mobile phone and m.socrative.com. Have the roomnumber & website URL already on the board! Put the pictures provided on the blendspace on the smartboard and ask them: Explain whether you think these movies / series have a Smurfette Principle. They will answer using Socrative. Make sure you encourage them to use sentences such as: I think, I believe etc. After a few minutes, switch to the live feed and discuss the answers in the group. Do this for all pictures provided in the Blendspace. During this process you guide them towards using the language structures. They went from understand to application at home. Important: keep in mind, using socrative always takes up more time than you would think!. Step 3 (10 minutes) Form groups of four. They all brought an example of the Smurfette Principle. Each student will present his / her example to the group and they will talk about it. Example: I think this is an example because… Step 4 ( 5 minutes) Your students know how to formulate an opinion. Organise a class discussion, ask pupils: What is your hobby? (students need to be able to say: I like….., that’s the structure they learnt. What do you think of the colour pink? Students need to be able to say: I think…) Do you believe in something? What movies do you like? Etc.. Step 5 (5- 10 minutes) Give them a moment to ask questions to their neighbour, asking what they like etc. Have these sentence structures on the board. Step 6 (5 minutes) Ask a few pupils to talk about their neighbour, telling the class what they like, think or believe. Step 7 (5 minutes) Evaluate the lesson.
