The mood disorder questionnaire (mdq) is a self-report screening instrument developed by hirschfeld et al. (2000) to identify individuals with potential bipolar spectrum disorders. The questionnaire consists of 10 items, each with multiple response options, that assess various symptoms of hypomania and depression. Users are instructed to indicate 'yes' if they have experienced any of the described symptoms and 'no' if not. If a user answers 'yes' to more than one item, they are asked to identify if these symptoms occurred during the same period. Lastly, users are asked to rate the severity of the problem caused by any of these symptoms. The mdq is intended for research and educational purposes only and must be cited appropriately.
