Director’s Vision
The logistical elements when it comes to elements is that there has to be a balance
between comedy and mythical storytelling that’s what I see when telling this story and bringing
it to life, there are 4 locations in which are present along with having about 8 characters. The
major events of this play would be the battle of anger the families have between each other and
the families don’t really want to hear what their children have to say because this is a long
family tradition. The simple needs are the main characters Romeo and Juliet want to be together
and have a happy life buts impossible with hatred between the Capulets and the Montague’s.
Within the beginning of the scene there is already a fight that happens this seems to be a
common occurrence with the families, the there is Juliet’s family who is all about Paris marrying
her.The themes that stand out the most to me about this play is that it seems like both Romeo and
Juliet were living there own lives just like any other human being, and it was almost like they
were blind to cross paths with one another, it didn’t take long for both of them to realize how
they feel about each other, during the party they are both attending there they share a kiss and
they fall in love immediately. Which is crazy to think how fast they fell in love so fast sort of
shows the teenage phase, they wanted to marry each other young also, and this is something that
is a regular occurrence in new productions and film. To compare to modern day love stories
with Romeo and Juliet with plays and also in film especially when it comes to the design even if

the story has been told more than 100 times there is always something different within the concept, and the colors and backgrounds as well as the theme, the significance of this storytelling because no matter how old we as individuals become there is something that’s always being changed to make it modern and more understandable. I think trying to understand what Shakespeare was trying to convey through this script and play it might be a little difficult because the story can become more and more modern through each of the different decades and years, and because we have to have a storytelling that makes sense for the new generation, the audience would probably take away that both souls being Romeo and Juliet were alike people but their families were not for them being together which I’m sure a lot of people can have a real world correlation because disfunction with families is something that can happen and does, I feel like that it a way that the audience can empathize especially if it is something that they have gone through, the audience would be able to understand and empathize if this something they have experienced. I would ask my design team if we could come up with a design that has some of the colors, costumes and as well as being able to use the original script but also but a modern day twist and also have modern day script intertwined, making sure that the clothing and background are still paying homage to Shakespeare but have a modern day production and design. For the music I would like to have renditions of the old Shakespeare play but have the music production have individuals sing the modern day music for the modern day play. Having music from and lyrics from different time periods would be so great and being able to convey that in a play is beneficial also being able to get everyone together it’s great to have different cultures and have them displayed appropriately within the play. For direction and guidance I would want my team to know that it’s okay to give emotion with the all the scenes but don’t be afraid to have that imagination and don’t be so guarded take a breathe clear the mind and be that character be within
