REGULATING FOOD AND DRUGS Upton Sinclair’s The Jungle – unsanitary conditions in meatpacking Roosevelt commission investigates, backs up Sinclair’s account Roosevelt pushes for Meat Inspection Act:

  • dictates sanitary requirements
  • creates federal meat inspection program
