Overview
This technology assignment will introduce students to using Excel to assist with basic
statistical analysis of one variable.
Assignment
A computer manufacturer has two distribution centers…for simplicity lets call them Dist
A and Dist B. The following are the number of computers shipped for 45 randomly
selected days from each plant:

Based on the above data, answer the following before performing any computations:
1) Which of the two distribution centers appears to distribute more computers?
Why do you think so?
2) What other characteristics do you notice when comparing Dist A and Dist B
before summarizing the data?
Computations
1) Compute the mean, median, and mode of both distribution centers
2) Compute the sample standard deviations of both distribution centers
3) Create a histogram for each distribution center
4) Create a five number summary for the above data
5) (Optional: 3 points extra credit) Create a stem and leaf diagram for both sets
by hand. You may submit this in class as opposed to e-mail.
