Tutorial sessions will be held weekly on Tuesday, Thursday, Sunday evenings from 7-9 pm in Norris 100. These sessions are not required. However, I strongly urge you to take advantage of the tutorial session. They will be led by Albion College students who can help you to grasp any material you might be struggling with. This is a great place to work on homework problems and study for exams with other interested students. The first tutorial for the fall semester will be held Tuesday evening, 21 August.
Check-Ins are designed to help you study and think about the topics we will discuss in CHEM121. Each assignment should take approximately 15-30 minutes. I will read and evaluate your replies prior to each class meeting. Material on Check-In will be used to clear-up misconceptions, as a springboard for class discussion, and as a feedback tool. Each Check-In page also includes a space for you to ask questions about the material being covered in class.
There will be one Check-In prior to each class (except exam days) during the semester. You will receive credit for having completing each Check-in not on the correctness of your answers, but on the quality and thoroughness of your replies. Check-In responses are due by 6 a.m. the day of the class meeting. Check-in assignments cannot be made up and will not be accepted late. When you know that you will be absent from class, I urge you to complete the check-in assignment in advance. Your three lowest check-in scores will be dropped before your check-in average is calculated.
