  • According to Public Law 504 and the Americans with Disabilities Act, Jacksonville State University will provide reasonable access and appropriate accommodations for otherwise qualified disabled students. If you need such access or accommodations, please consult with your professor immediately.
  • Students are expected to adhere to the University Code of Student Conduct as set forth in the University Policies of the Student Handbook. Unless otherwise specified, all assignments and projects turned in for evaluation are to be individual efforts. It is the student's responsibility to gain clarification from me of any conduct that could be considered in violation of the University Judicial Code. Ignorance of the Code, its interpretation, or course policies is not an excuse for misconduct.
  • All forms of personal electronic communication devices must be out of sight and in the power-off mode for class and testing periods. During a testing period in class, any use of a personal electronic communication device, without the prior consent of the instructor, constitutes prima-facie evidence of academic dishonesty with no right of grade appeal. If

the instructor observes the device, the presumption is that cheating has occurred and a grade of “F” will be assigned for that exam, quiz, etc.

  • Military-Connected Student Statement: The Office of Veteran Services serves all active duty, guard, reserve, veteran, and dependent students at JSU. If you have any questions about Veteran Services please contact (256) 782-8838, veterans@jsu.edu, or at the physical location in the basement of Daugette Hall. If you are a student currently serving in the military (Active Duty, Guard, or Reserves) with the potential of being called to military service or training during the course of the semester, you are encouraged to contact your course instructor no later than the first week of class to discuss the class attendance policy. The instructor may make accommodations for this absence or suggest that you take the course at another time.
  • Title IX of the Educational Amendments of 1972 prohibits discrimination based on sex in any educational institution that receives federal funding. Jacksonville State University does not tolerate sex discrimination of any kind including: sexual misconduct, sexual harassment, domestic violence, stalking or other conduct that is addressed in the university’s “Title IX Gender-Based and Sexual Misconduct Policy.” This type of conduct may interfere with or limit an individual’s ability to benefit from or participate in JSU’s educational programs or activities. Anyone with knowledge of this type of conduct are asked to immediately report such incidents to the University Police Department at (256) 782 - 5050 or the Title IX Coordinator at (256) 782-5769. These incidents may also be reported to an instructor, faculty or staff member, who are required to notify the Title IX Coordinator. If a student wishes to keep the information confidential, the student may speak with a counselor at the Counseling Services office at (256) 782-5475 or a medical provider at Student Health Services (256) 782-5310. For more information about Title IX, please visit the JSU Title IX webpage at www.jsu.edu/titleix.
  • Tutoring resources at JSU: All JSU students can access online tutoring assistance through tutor.com. To access tutor.com, log into Canvas and click the tutor.com link in the navigation pane. For more information about tutor.com contact Debra James at dmjames@jsu.edu. On-campus and virtual tutoring is available through the Student Success Center. For additional information, go to www.jsu.edu/studentsuccess/tutoring/index.html.
  • Communication: Email, Canvas messaging, and Canvas announcements will be the primary means of communication for this course. If I need to contact the class, it will be by email or Canvas messages/announcement. Students are expected to check their JSU email account as well as Canvas messages/announcements daily (Monday through Friday). All email correspondence should be through your JSU email account and include your name as it appears on the class roster. If you haven't already done so, check your Canvas account settings to receive notifications when announcements are posted. I will do my best to respond to emails within 24 hours, Monday through Thursday. However, emails received

assignment 4.6, which is due after the third exam. Note: WebAssign assignments are not available for completion past the due date.

  • There will be three practice tests posted in WebAssign that will correspond to Exam 1, Exam 2, and Exam 3. These practice tests are worth 10 points each. The practice tests are intended to help you study/prepare for the exams. The practice tests will not be available past the due date. Additional details are posted in the Exam Information module in Canvas Exams The exams will be completed online through WebAssign using the Honorlock proctoring service. Exams are the only assignments that require Honorlock proctoring. The following are the due dates for the exams.
  • Exam 1: Friday, March 14th^ by 11:59 pm.
  • Exam 2: Friday, April 4th^ by 11:59 pm.
  • Exam 3 : Friday, April 25th^ by 11:59 pm. You will be asked to select an exam time when completing the exam rules quizzes. From my previous experience, if several students attempt to access Honorlock and WebAssign at approximately the same time, both systems bogged down and became extremely slow. Hence, it will be necessary to have several testing sessions on exam days to ensure everyone is not logging in at the same time and causing the systems to become overloaded. Exam Rules and Honorlock
  1. An appropriate workspace is required. An appropriate workspace is a table or desk that has enough room, so the webcam can, at all times, view the student’s workspace as well as their hands and face. Students will need to sit at a table or desk that has enough room so they can sit back or to the side of their computer to allow the webcam to view their workspace (i.e., hands, face, scratch paper being used, etc.). If you need to, you can enlarge the view on your computer screen or lean in to read questions or enter answers. Note: Check the camera view once you are in Honorlock to be sure the camera can view your hands, face, and workspace. Honorlock will record your exam session, and I will review all videos for rules compliance.
  1. You will need your JSU ID or driver’s license in order to complete the exam. You will be instructed to show your ID to the webcam.
  2. You will need scratch paper and a pencil or pen. Note: You are to show your scratch paper to the camera before you begin the exam.
  3. You will need a calculator. You may use a handheld calculator or the default calculator provided on your computer. Note: Cell phone calculators, graphing calculators, online calculators, and calculators that have been downloaded are not allowed. Note: You are to show your calculator to the camera before you begin the exam.
  4. You are not allowed to access any online resources such as math websites, videos, etc. during this exam.
  5. You are not allowed to access any personal belongings during the exam. This includes cell phones, tablets, notes, books, etc. Violation of any of these rules, at any point during the exam, will result in an exam grade of zero. NOTE: You must have a reliable webcam and high speed internet in order to complete the exams for this class. The Honorlock internet speed requirements are 1.5 Mbps download and 750 Kbps upload. Everyone should test their internet speed immediately. You can test your internet speed using an online internet speed test.
  • Technical issues involving the use of Honorlock are not an excuse for a late exam.
  • Honorlock will not operate properly with a weak internet connection or slow upload/download speed. If your computer is slow to download videos or other media, you should test your internet speed immediately. Slow internet is not an excuse for a late exam.
  • If your internet speed is slow you should consider completing the exams on-campus at Testing Services.
  • Honorlock does not support Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Mac OSX 10.11 and Mac OSX 10.12.
  • Before beginning an exam using Honorlock, carefully watch the Honorlock Instructional video.
