Black_Rattan_Minigrant 2003 Page 1 of 2 Mini Grant Submission for 2003- College of Education and Educational Technology Lynanne Black, Ph.D. and Gurmal Rattan, Ph.D. Department of Educational and School Psychology Webct Course Development Introduction For the present submission, I am applying for a mentor mini grant. I am a new professor to Indiana University of Pennsylvania and am interested in learning more about available technology. I already have begun to experiment with more familiar types of technology. For instance, I have worked with the “P” drive for my courses, specifically EDSP 102, Educational Psychology and EDSP 713, Assessment for Intervention II. While this option allows me to offer information to my students, it is limited in the continuum of services I can provide. I would like to do more than simply store information for them. I am looking for a more advanced approach to online courses with more options than the “P” drive provides, and I believe that Webct can provide them to me. Dr. Gurmal Rattan, Professor in the Department of Educational and School Psychology, has agreed to serve as my mentor through this process. I am looking to accomplish the following goals:

Furthermore, my students will be exposed to higher levels of technology and will be required to use it as part of the course work. Finally, it will allow the opportunity for more communication between me and my students due to the constant availability of information and our mutual access to the online calendar. Summary The purpose of this submission is to apply for a mentor grant in order to devise online aspects of my courses through the use of Webct. Dr. Rattan will serve as my mentor for this project. By registering my courses online I will gain access to Webct and with Dr. Rattan’s guidance I will learn how to set up my courses, place pertinent information online, have student information available online, and manage online calendars. I realize that learning about Webct will require a time commitment on my part, and I am willing to put in the necessary effort. Budget I am applying for the $300 offered for the mentor mini grant. The budget is as follows: Black Item Cost Lexmark X6150 All-In-One Printer $200. Rattan Item Cost Professional Membership Fees $100.
