I. Text, Equipment, & Fees: There will NOT be a required textbook.
There will be a daily fee of $8 for lane use and shoe
rental.
This fee will be paid directly to Habetler Bowl
II. Purpose: The purpose of this course is to provide the student with a meaningful
educational experience of a practical nature in the sport of bowling.
1. To familiarize the student with a variety of techniques associated
with bowling.
2. To instill a knowledge of the basic rules and etiquette of bowling.
3. To afford the student the opportunity to gain “hands-on” practical
experience in the sport of bowling.
4. To practice skills associated with the sport of bowling.
III. Content: This course will consist of the following activities:
1. Brief lectures and demonstrations
2. Daily practice and score tracking
3. Playing together as a team or individuals
IV. Evaluations: The final course grade will be determined from the student’s attendance
and
participation in class activities.
Attendance & punctuality (35 pts. Per day) 455 points
Participation 45 points
Total 500 points
The grading breakdown will be as follows:
A 448 to 500 points
B 398 to 447 points
C 348 to 397 points
D 298 to 347 points

F 297 points or below VIII. Participation & Attendance: Each class meeting will be worth 35 points. Participation in class requires that you actively take part in all drills and activities which may require mild to strenuous physical exertion. Points will not be awarded based upon physical ability or skill. Students will be allowed (1) absence for the course. Any absences in excess of (1) will result in a loss of points for the day. The exception will be viable medical and true emergencies (documentation may be required). Tardiness may also result in a loss of

points.

XI. Acts of Misconduct: A student is subject to University discipline for participating or conspiring in acts of academic misconduct. Academic misconduct is an offense against the University. Acts of academic misconduct include, but are not limited to:

  1. Cheating-Use or attempted use of any unauthorized assistance in taking an exam, text, quiz, or other assignment.
  2. Encouraging Academic Dishonesty-Intentionally or knowingly helping or attempting to persuade and/or influence another to violate the University’s rules, policies, and regulations governing academic integrity.
  3. Fabrication-Deliberate falsification or design of and material or excerpt in an academic assignment or exercise.
  4. Plagiarism-Appropriation or imitation of the language, ideas, and thoughts of another author and representation of them as one’s own work. This includes (1) paraphrasing another’s ideas or conclusions without acknowledgement; (2) lifting entire paragraphs, chapters, etc. from another’s work; (3) submission as one’s own work, any work prepared by another person or agency. Please refer to the Northeastern Illinois University Student Conduct Code for a complete description of Acts of Misconduct and all other matters related to the Student Conduct Code. XII.
