them.
Good: happiness, love, passion, liking, joy
Bad: sadness, depression, grief, fear, social anxiety
Hostile: anger sadness contempt, disgust, jealousy, envy

Stereotyping

 You essentially determine or select to notice certain instances or events that help you to initiate you’re perception of the world.  These decisions aren’t necessarily make these consciously.  Unexpected and unusual stimuli help form perception  How frequently you are exposed  Intensity  Organization:  You make sense of the information by understanding how different and similar it is from things you already know about  Perceptual schema: mental framework for organizing information.  There are 4 schemas o Physical constructs: appearance o Role constructs: social standing o Interaction: their behavior and personality o Psychological: Thoughts and feelings Schemas help us to determine how similar people are to us Interpretation  Process of assigning meaning to information that has been select and organized for interpretation.  Knowledge helps you with your perception of information.   Know what stereotyping is, and its significance in perception and interpersonal communication.  Stereotyping: generalizations about a group or category of people that can have a powerful influences on we perceive people.  Stereotypes lead to inaccurate perceptions We engage in selective memory bias with stereotypes o We select the information that backs up stereotypes  Stereotypes aren’t always inaccurate  Know what interpersonal perception is.

 Employee puts on façade as if they actually feel the emotion they are presenting  Involves presenting emotion on the surface and not actually feeling them  They do it to keep their job not to help organization  Associated with increased stress, emotional exhaustion depression, and a sense in authenticity.  Deep acting: where in they modify their inner feelings to match the emotion expression the organization is expressing.  Deep acting is in an actor attempt to match the displays in order to seem authentic  They fake in good faith  Do it for the betterment of the organization  Associated with reduces stressed and an increase sense of personal accomplishment
