Dear Activities Office, Sponsors, and Student Body,
My name is Lily Stiegemeyer, and I am writing this letter to express my intent to run for
the philanthropy chair on Longhorn Council. I would like to express my gratitude to you for
considering me for this position and taking the time to read this letter.
I have gone to Parkway West for 3 years, and have been on the girls swim and dive team,
rowed at Saint Louis Rowing Club, and participated in feminist club. I have admired the work
done by LOCO to better the West community, and I have a desire to serve on LOCO alongside
my classmates in the capacity of philanthropy chair.
The Parkway West community is one of incredible fortune. This, in turn, has driven
many students to want to give back to not only their community, but also those much further
outside the community. I too, feel this need to give back to the community and believe that I can
do this through the role of philanthropy chair.
While holding this position, I intend to further the outreach of Parkway West while
continuing our work with current charities and organizations. I see my role as not only
communicating with these organizations but also communicating with the student body and
faculty. I plan to do this with the help of fellow members of LOCO, but also alongside the
Parkway West Pathfinder, and different clubs within the school. I envision that my roles in
LOCO, the Pathfinder, and clubs throughout the school allowing for greater awareness and
support for the causes that LOCO supports.
I believe in our common compassion as humans. I understand that I live a life of privilege
and that so many around me do not. To hold this privilege and do nothing of good with it is not
only a disservice to yourself, but also to all of those who deserve our compassion, help, and
kindness.
Parkway West has, and will continue to do good for so many, and it is my hope that I
could help the school in doing so. We have the power to leave the West High community a better
place than when we got here. This power starts within the students.
Thank you to those who have taken the time to read this letter. Thank you for considering
me for the role of the 2019- 2020 Philanthropy Chair. It is my sincere hope that I could make an
impact in my community on behalf of you, the Parkway West High School students.
Warmly,
Lily Stiegemeyer
