iCivics Learning Activities: Amendments and Bill of Rights, Schemes and Mind Maps of Constitutional Law

Seven stations for students to engage in various activities related to the US Constitution's Amendments and Bill of Rights. Stations include completing iCivics simulations, researching and summarizing news articles, creating infographics, filling out charts, and listening to podcasts. Students are encouraged to work ahead if finished early.

Station 4- Amendment Infographic

  1. Read the directions AND the rubric.
  2. Research your amendment.
  3. Explain it in 3-5 bullet points (student friendly terms NOT copied from the Internet or Textbook)
  4. Create an image that represents your amendment.

Station 5- Amendments Chart

  1. Continue filling out the chart started with me.
  2. You will research amendments 11-27 and explain each in student friendly terms. (NOT copied from the Internet or a textbook- in your words, so you can understand it as will other 8th graders)

Station 7-Listenwise-

Amendments in the News Podcasts

  1. Following the link on my website, log into Listenwise.
  2. Click on the Station 7: Part 1 Assignment to listen about Animal Rights and Constitutional Law. a. Listen and complete the graphic organizer comparing/contrasting the monkey and the photographic b. Answer the questions
  3. Then click Part 2 Assignment to listen about Cell Phone Searches. a. Listen and then complete the questions.
