Note: Pre-Lab is the pre-requisite of this Lab.

OBJECTIVE

This Lab is intended to show you how to create, simulate, and analyze a Slot Coupled Patch Antenna shown in Fig (1), using the Ansoft HFSS Design Environment.

Units: cm Material: Rogers RT/duroid 5880(tm)

Create Substrate

  • Draw a box with Name: sub Box position Opposite Corner X: -7.0 dX: 12. Y: -4.5 dY: 9. Z: 0.0 dZ: 0.

Create Patch

  • Draw a rectangle with Name: patch Rectangle position Opposite Corner X: -2.0 dX: 4. Y: -1.5 dY: 3. Z: 0.32 dZ: 0. Assign Perfect E Boundary to patch Name: PerfE_patch

Task – 1: Create a Lump Port and excite it.

Rectangle position Radius X: -5.0 dX: 0. Y: -0.2475 dY: 0. Z: -0.0 dZ: 0.

Task – 2: Create the Air of shape Box. Also create the Radiation Boundary and Radiation Setup.

Set Material: Vacuum

Create Air

  • Draw a Box with Name: Air Box position Opposite Corner X: -7.0 dX: 12. Y: -4.5 dY: 9. Z: -2.0 dZ: 4.

Radiation Boundary: Graphically select all the faces of the air object except the face at Z= 0.0 cm.
