A Search Urgency Form - ✔✔justifies the initial actions such as performing additional investigation or calling out search resources POD Estimates, Map or Trail updates that might be needed, hazard areas not included in the safety briefing, thoughts and impressions from the team members - ✔✔A complete debriefing of a team when they return from a task is critical to understanding how how well they were able to search their area. A good debriefing should include all of the following. Notification of a search assignment to the search team, and notification of a search assignment to the team members - ✔✔Notification of a search is separated into the following categories Indirect - ✔✔a loose grid is what type of search tactic direct them to the agency having jurisdiction - ✔✔when approached by the media, searchers should Local law enforcement and OEM - ✔✔ Lost Person Behavior (LPB) data provides search planners with general indications of the following with the exception of - ✔✔How quickly they will be located by trained searchers Clues and evidence should be - ✔✔reported and processed following AHJ SOGs and properly documented and secured in a food grade plastic storage bag Smelling smoke from a campfire when looking for a pair of missing hikers or finding a small toy during a search for a child are what type of clues? - ✔✔Physical Who is responsible for establishing a "safety first" mindset during search operations? - ✔✔The Safety Officer The National SAR Committee (NSARC) is responsible for coordinating and improving federal involvment in civil search and rescue. Air Scent Canines - ✔✔detect the scent of "human rafts" (dead human skin cells) as they float through the air. These dogs generally do not discriminate from one scent generator to another. These dogs are usually worked off lead. Air scent dogs are extremely useful in covering large areas, especially if no one has been in those areas. Tracking Canines - ✔✔are trained to follow a specific scent matching that of the scent generator, such as from an article of clothing, bed sheets or pillowcases, etc. These canines work on lead, and follow very closely on the trail of where the subject traveled, regardless of wind. Police Canines - ✔✔are sometimes known as "tracking" and "sniff and bite" dogs. These dogs will track criminal suspect footsteps based on crushed vegetation or the suspect's adrenaline scent.
