I would like to present my proposed policy for adapting playgrounds to the Parks and Recreation Department. This proposal aims to provide adaptive playground equipment for children with physicaldisabilities. I plan to deliver this proposal to the city council of Tucson, Arizona. Council members have two defining characteristics, they are community shareholders and advocates for the inclusion of play for children with disabilities. A1A. Explain how your proposed policy will affect your chosen target audience from A1.

The proposed policy of adapting playgrounds to be more inclusive and accessible to children with physical disabilities will have a significant impact on the target audience. By implementing this policy, children with disabilities willhave the opportunity to engage in play activities alongside their able-bodied peers, which will promote socialization, communication, and physical activity.

Furthermore, parents of children with disabilities will no longer have to exclude their children from playground activities due to inaccessible equipment or facilities, thus allowing them to participate in community events and promote

The first step in implementing the policy is to conduct a thorough analysis of the community's needs, including demographics, age range,disabilities, and accessibility requirements.

Consultation with Experts:

Consultation with experts, such as occupational therapists, disability advocates, and playground equipment manufacturers, is essential to determine the appropriate equipment and designsthat meet the specific needs of the community.

Develop a Budget and Funding Sources:

Based on the needs assessment and expert consultation, the next step is to develop a budget for the project. The budget should considerthe cost of equipment, installation, maintenance, and ongoing operation costs. The funding sources could include government grants, corporate sponsorships, community fundraising, and private donations.

Identify the Appropriate Playgrounds:

The implementation plan should identify the playgrounds in the community that will receive the adaptive equipment. These

playgrounds should be chosen based on their current level of accessibility, usage, and proximityto areas where children with disabilities reside.

Installation and Maintenance of Equipment:

Once the appropriate playgrounds have been identified, the next step is to install the adaptive equipment.The installation process should be conducted by certified professionalsto ensure the equipment is correctly installed and meets safety standards. Additionally, a maintenance plan should be developed to ensure the equipmentis regularly checked and maintained to prevent accidents and injuries.

Community Engagement:

The implementation plan should also include strategies to engage the community and promote the new playgrounds. Strategies couldinclude hosting community events, workshops, and public relations campaigns to generate awarenessand interest in the new playgrounds.
