Program Overview The program activities will be hosted by ShanghaiNormal University located in the city of Shanghai,the largest city in China. SNU is a comprehensiveuniversity with a spacious and beautiful campusproviding an ideal environment for study. Shanghaiis referred to as the birthplace of everythingconsidered modern in China.This is a three week study abroad program in whichstudents participate in experiential education inShanghai including Chinese culture and languageclasses, as well as social and recreational activities.Excursions include visits to museums, Old Town,temples and of course, shopping at the localbazaars.The China Study Abroad Program will culminate inan exciting 3-day excursion to Beijing, the capitol ofthe People’s Republic of China, and host of the2008 Summer Olympic games. Beijing is the secondlargest city in China and while there, participantswill visit the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square andthe Summer Palace. An excursion to the Great Wallof China, one of the greatest wonders of the world,is planned for the group. PARTICIPANTS ARE NOT REQUIRED TO SPEAK CHINESETO GO ON THIS STUDY ABROAD PROGRAM.Courses Every participant must enroll in the special coursefor Spring 2010:INTL 2990: STUDY ABROAD (3 CREDITS)Participants are required to attend ALLpre-departure orientations as well as scheduledon-site educational and cultural learning activities.In addition, students must complete all courserequirements as assigned by the program leader.

Participant/Program Cost^ $3,200.00(Prices may vary slightly.) Included Round trip airfare from SLC to Shanghai;Airport transfers; lodging; program relatedexcursions and entrance fees; some meals; visafees; and Beijing excursion. Not Included Tuition; passport; some meals; laundry; personalexpenses; non-program related transportationcosts and any miscellaneous items not specifically.listed You must have a validpassport and a visa forthe China Study Abroad.Visa information will begiven during theorientation sessions. Proof ofpassport due February 1, 2010 inStudy Abroad Office, CT 258. A minimum of 10 students is requiredfor the China Study Abroad(15 maximum). Cancellations/Refunds If the trip is cancelled prior to November 23,2009, the deposit of $500.00 will be refundedin full. Further refunds for withdrawal from thisprogram after November 23, 2009, will bedetermined by the Study Abroad Directoraccording to the recoverability of incurredcosts and fees. Once the group leaves forChina, all costs are non-refundable in theirentirety.
