What I Need to Know

In this module, you will learn more about solving equations that

involve radical expressions.

Lesson 1 • Radical Equations

In this lesson you will learn to:

  • solve equations involving radical expressions.(M9AL-IIi-1)

Questions:

  1. Based on the example, how would you define radical equation?
  2. How well the radical equations solved?
  3. Can you identify the different parts of the solution and the reason/s

behind each?

  1. What important concepts/ skills were needed to solve radical equations?

What is It

A radical equation is an equation in which the variable appears

in a radicand.

Examples:

In solving radical equations, we can use the fact that if two

numbers are equal, then their squares are equal.

In symbols; if a = b, then a
