The quiz covers the material from sections 8.1 - 8.4.
Most questions will be about whether the given sequence or series converges or diverges.
A few may ask to evaluate what it converges to (if it converges). You must show the
work or reasoning to support your conclusion. The right answer with the wrong support
is worth less than the wrong answer with the right approach.
It is important that you know which test applies to which type of series and what the
result of the test means. It is easy (and common) to confuse the interpretation of the
results and get either the wrong answer or an incorrectly supported answer.
To prepare for this exam go through the examples in each section and review the
various tests we have for convergence. Use problems from the chapter review or a
random selection from the sections to test how you can identify what test will work.
Develop examples of a convergent or divergent series for which specific tests can’t be
applied or don’t give a definitive answer.
