RULES FOR KENKEN PUZZLE (^) 1. In a 3x3 puzzle the only numbers you may write are 1, 2, or 3. (A 4x4 puzzle requires 1 through 4 and for 5x5 puzzle requires 1 through 5, and so on). The numbers you use in a kenken puzzle depend on the size of the grid you choose. (^) 2. The numbers in each heavily outlined set of squares, called cages, must combine (in any order) to produce the target number in the top corner using the mathematic operation indicated (+,-,x,/ ). (^) 3. Numbers may be repeated within a cage, if necessary, as long as they do not repeat within a single row or column. (^) 4. A number cannot be repeated within the same row or column. (^) 5. Cages can contain 1,2 or more squares and can even go “around the corner”. A cage with one square is a “freebie”. Just fill in the number you’re given.
