CITA340 – Project 1 Deliverable 1
For the CITA340 project, each team will design a database and then create the database
in SQL Server. The first part of the project will consist of 5 deliverables dealing with the
design of the database. The second part of the project will include the creation of the
database.
As with any team project, organization will be important for this project. Keep your
documents organized so that you will have everything to compile at the end, as you will
need each document that you have created.
Deliverable 1:
The first thing for each team to do is to decide on a business / organization for which a
database can be developed. It will be an organization which has a need for the creation of
a substantial database with multiple entities and relationships.
Deliverable 1 will set the stage for the rest of the project. It will include the following:
1. Company Overview
a. Overview of the business which you are developing the system for – a
recently developed business, or a business that you work for that would like to
develop a new system: what the business is for and what it does. Mission of
the business. Who owns it, when it was founded, where it is located, other
details of the business. (So that someone reading it would understand the
nature of the business).
b. Customers – who are they (they might be other businesses or individuals),
where are they located
c. Products and services offered by the company.
d. Discussion of the employees of the company
2. Initial Study (from Initial Study phase of DBLC)
3. Description of Operations (Conceptual Design - Data Analysis)
