Official name for teaching method is "Dual Delivery Class".
Questions: How did Thursday go?
How does one test when the code is not ready? How does one stick to a schedule when the code developers do not deliver on time?
Answer: Do the testing one can and report partial results.
Problems in communication: make the expectations explicit to the developers.
Communication is facilitated by frequent contact with the developers.
NOTE: This whole "teaming" of two classes is a big experiment. They need to be given at the same time!!!
Big management problem: Motivating people to achieve. What to do with underachievers?
Fulltime managers are needed. Management is not a sideline for fulltime programmers.
Lesson from Thursday: Have some sort of test plan, at least a basic strategy.
Idea: Get a guest lecture on testing. Invite an industry person. Ideas include TSYS and AFLAC.
Extra item for the "final exam": After the fact, write a project plan that could have been achieved in a one semester course.
What have we learned?
