ANGELES, Cielo Angelite P. BSN 1- 4 REFLECTION PAPER: POLITICAL DYNASTY Political dynasty is usually described as families that have achieved economic or political supremacy in a region and have organized efforts to strengthen towards federal government or other positions of national politics which give people recognition. Political dynasties have a positive impact on development since politicians who are succeeded by relatives in their positions can sustain and improve their programs. As a result, the development of their projects will continue for a long time and may be beneficial to their community, particularly the people. The Philippines has a political dynasty; as of September 2019, the congress has six couples of spouses establishing ordinances in their different cities and municipalities. The film from the Investigation documentary shows how political dynasties are popular in the Philippines. It primarily discusses how, despite the existence of a law that prevents political dynasties, numerous politicians have managed to circumvent it due to the law's weak base. There have also been incidents of couples running for political office in two distinct regions, as per the article. This demonstrates how well the existing 1987 Philippine Constitution, Article 2 Section 26, lacks a clear definition of political dynasty and its boundaries. This is alarming, and the problem with the Cayetanos is a good example as to why. Because there was a misunderstanding about the difference among residence and domicile, it was asserted that there's nothing improper with the Cayetanos running for political office in several districts (GMA Public Affairs, 2019). This was not outlawed, which means that families can run for public office in multiple places using multiple domiciles. “Political dynasties have cleverly exploited over time our people's poverty and their lack of informed judgment brought about by insufficient education and inadequate understanding of the language that government and media use in presenting, reporting, and discussing government and political affairs,” writes Punongbayan (2018). Political families are fundamentally a prescription for fraud and having a network of families manage the government has no benefits. One of the downsides of political dynasties for the general public, particularly for running politicians, is the absence of opportunity to be appointed to a position. Political dynasty families are often well-liked in their communities, therefore their opponents have a slim chance of succeeding. Another issue is that some voters just look at the names of the people or families
ANGELES, Cielo Angelite P. BSN 1- 4 with whom they previously voted since they are already familiar with how those individuals or families control them. Since such people or families active in politics tend to expand their money unlawfully, political dynasties may lead to corruption. We all know that some politicians have easy access to money because they are the ones we entrust with the growth of our community. If the ruler was a corrupt politician, he would spend the money meant for the people of the area on his own family's needs. I believe that we also need to give chance to other and see how they manage to lead a region.
