Answer the following questions:
1. What is sports?
Answer: an athletic activity requiring skill or physical prowess and often of a competitive
nature, as racing, baseball, tennis, golf, bowling, wrestling, boxing, hunting, fishing, etc.
Sports includes all forms of competitive physical activity or games which, through casual
or organized participation, at least in part aim to use, maintain or improve physical ability
and skills while providing enjoyment to participants, and in some cases, entertainment for
spectators. Sports can bring positive results to one's physical health. Hundreds of sports
exist, from those between single contestants, through to those with hundreds of
simultaneous participants, either in teams or competing as individuals.
2. What are the 2 type of sports?
Answer: There are two types of sports namely, dual sports and team sports. Dual sports is
a type of sports that are played by two people playing against each other. This is similar
to team sports, which refers to sports where two groups play against each other, only that
it is a 1v1 (one versus one) competition. Example of dual sports are: badminton, chess,
table tennis, tennis, etc. teams sports on the other hand, includes any sport where
individuals are organized into opposing teams which compete to win. Team members act
together towards a shared objective. This can be done in a number of ways such as
outscoring the opposing team. Team members set goals, make decisions, communicate,
manage conflict, and solve problems in a supportive, trusting atmosphere in order to
accomplish their objectives. Examples of team sports are: basketball, volleyball, baseball,
soccer, hockey, etc.
3. What are the classification of sports?
Answer: Sports are competitions of physical strength, skill, or endurance against
opponents or against an objective standard such as time, height, or distance.
There are a number of systems for classifying sports, based on different criteria.
1. Team – Individual
ه Team sports are practised between opposing teams, where the players interact to
achieve the objective of the game.
Individual sports are based on one-to-one confrontation or timed races.
2. Opponent – Achievement
ه The objective of opponent sports is to defeat the opponent in combat, court or board
games.
ه Among achievement sports the following categories can be distinguished: target,
display, strength and endurance.

ه This division is based on the environment where the sport is performed, e.g. stadium sports, court games, water sports, etc.

  1. Professional – Amateur ه Professional Sports are conducted for profit by entrepreneurs who pay athletes depending on their popularity and performance. Professional sports are regulated by leagues or associations that set rules of competition and often are involved in regulating the salaries and working conditions of athletes.
  2. Spectator Sports ه A spectator sport is one that is characterized by the presence of spectators at matches or competitions. Spectator sports may be professional sports or amateur sports. Car racing is one of the most popular spectator sports in the world.
  3. Olympic Sports ه The Summer Olympic Games include 28 sports with 38 disciplines, the Winter Games include 7 sports with 15 disciplines. Until 1992, the Olympics also often featured demonstration sports. The objective was for these sports to reach a larger audience; the winners of these events are not official Olympic champions. These sports were sometimes sporting popular only in the host nation.
  4. What is a game? Answer: In the German language a game is any activity which is executed only for pleasure and without conscious purpose. In this definition every activity that brings pleasure is a game. For example, people dance, play musical instruments, act in plays, and play with dolls and model trains.
  5. What are the different types of games? Answer:  Alternate reality game  Video game  Augmented reality  Virtual reality  Pervasive game  Massively multiplayer online  Role playing game  Simulation  Strategy  Real time strategy  Turn based strategy  Tactics  Adventure  Action  Puzzles  Mystery  Etc… 6.
