CASE STUDY: The Future of Philippine Tourism
I. Background of the Study
Tourism industry has been identified as one the engine and source of the
economic growth in the Philippines. It is third among the service sectors in the
country. Future of tourism industry has foresight and visualize because of the CLSA
–which provides reports regarding the issues and trends impacting the investments
decision of the organization. Due to the demands of tourism in the Philippines, it
state that the target foreign tourists on the year 2017 can be attainable. Also, it is
being foresight that from the year 2022, the arrivals of tourist annually for that
upcoming year would break the benchmark; this would also increases the GDP of
the country. In contrary, other neighboring country still surpasses the benchmark of
foreign tourists the Philippines had.
As per the new administration, they are expected to provide plans for the public
and private sector in the field of tourism; which will be beneficial to the both sectors
and economy as well. The rebalancing strategy of the administration expected to
build relationship with the neighboring country – which could be a dominant source
of tourism growth in the country. Domestic tourism as well anticipates to add to the
growth of the Philippine’s economy. By the year 2022, tourism sector has the
potential to generate employment; giving an opportunity especially to its citizen.
II. Statement of the problem
This project seeks to present the state of tourism in the Philippines by the given
data and, proposed plans and strategies of the administration. This also attempts to
provide comprehension on how the tourist’s arrivals will increase, enabling the
country to keep up with the foreign tourism of neighboring country. This claim
supports by the following premises:
1. Philippines’ tourism is expected to achieve its targeted economic position,
competing with other foreign tourism, by the year 2017 and plans for the
2022 as well.

OPPORTUNITIES THREATS

o Strengthening relationships with potential globalized country o Open for globalization and growth in tourism industry o Maximizing Philippine’s tourism assets by the government’s strategic plan o Globalized and developed country o High expectations and demands of foreign tourists o Natural disaster affecting tourism destinations and infrastructures o Economic crisis IV. Alternative Courses in Action (ACA) Unlike the other globalized neighboring countries of our country, Philippines attract foreign tourists less than the number of these developed countries attracts. This is to consider that being a developed country; where they highly developed attractions and facilities are built. Versus the Philippines – having the natural attractions and being a starting developing country. The following are the alternative course of actions presented in the analysis:
