a. Attention Catcher: Raise your hand if youve ever been personally victimized by a bully The American Medical Association (AMA) estimates that 3.2 million students between 6th and 10th grades fall victim to moderate or serious bullying every year, and claims bullying is often a factor in school-related deaths as stated in the article Teens Read Gripping, Real Messages Sent To Peers After They Committed Suicide on the Huffington Post website, written by Robbie Couch on January 11th, 2015. TERM 2

DEFINITION 2 b. Listener Relevance: We are at the age that age where we should stand up and make a change. We are the future and need to take bullying very seriously. TERM 3

DEFINITION 3 c. Speaker Credibility: All throughout elementary school, middle school, and high school I was bullied to the point I stopped going to school. I was in a da1rk place and thought there was nothing I could do. I was told by teachers and counselors that it was in fact not bullying but just bad manners. Yet when I stood up for myself I was told by administrators that I was the BULLY here. I could not believe it. I felt like a target. TERM 4

DEFINITION 4 d. Thesis: Bullying should NOT be tolerated in schools. I feel and so should you that bullying should be put to a stop and that teachers and administrative should not be lenient on this subject matter. TERM 5

DEFINITION 5 e. Preview:Transition: There are so many issues and consequences when it comes to bullying and violence in schools. There are also many was to prevent it and I am going to explain them.

II. Bodya. PROBLEM: The problem is that bullying is way over looked in schools. Violence is described in the book Violence in Schools- Issues, Consequences, and Expressions edited by Kathy Sexton-Radek published in 2005 as the threat or use of physical force that causes physical injury, damage, or intimidation of another person TERM 7

DEFINITION 7 (Start video #1) Support Kids that are bullied most of the time dont stand up for themselves. Sometimes theyre too scared or nervous that the bully will get more violent with them if they find out they told someone. But also, bystanders are just bystanders. Most of them wont tell an adult because they also dont want to be bullied. Silence is a bullies best friend TERM 8

DEFINITION 8 (Start Video #2) Bullying can result in kids self-harming themselves and developing depression and anxiety. When someone is being bullied and self-harming it is hard for them to get help, trust me Ive been there. You are too frightened to come forward and that leads to a deep depression that can be hard to get out of. TERM 9

DEFINITION 9 iii. On the website Classism, there is an article named Why Dont Schools Do More To Stop Bullying written by Julie Withers posted on November 18th, 2010, Withers says about schools not doing much of anything about bullying Sure, they do not like it, but in so many cases it is reported that there was little if any institutional intervention. Of course, they sure were saddened when they heard the news. The rub for the people on the bad end of the bullying is that so many schools already have well-intentioned anti-bullying policies in place to prevent harassmentbut they dont work to protect the targets. There are many official reasons for institutional apathy. School officials say that the bullying was not witnessed, or that there was no physical proof, or no written documentation. TERM 10

DEFINITION 10 Transition: Ive talked to you about how administration doesnt do much as far as bullying goes and how bullying is a huge problem in todays youth. Now I am going to talk to you about the cause, why are kids being bullied.

III. Conclusiona. Review of main points: Ive talked about the problem of bullying in schools, just a few of the main causes, and a solution. TERM 17

DEFINITION 17 b. Thesis restatement: Bullying is a major issue in schools today and if not put to a stop more and more kids will fall into depression and most likely wont ever come out of it. TERM 18

DEFINITION 18 c. Clincher: I urge all of you to want to make a difference and by signing the piece of paper going around to commit yourself to not bully any one and to stand up if you see someone getting bullied.
