You just won the company’s two-week, all-expenses-paid vacation to the British Cayman
Islands! After all the congratulations and talk, your manager reminds you that the trip is
coming up and requests that you write an instructional “How To Do It” Job Function and
Guide for the substitute who is going to take over your work position while you are gone.
After pondering what you actually do on the job (remembering that great and highly
sought after associates make their own jobs; they are invaluable to companies and often
provide unique talents), you realize there are many details and functions that only you
know and the substitute might not. Since you really love the company, you start writing a
thorough job description and function/process analysis so you can have peace of mind
lounging the days away on Grand Cayman Beach.
