College Reality

"Intellectual work leading to understanding

requires a high degree of self-discipline, self- direction, and delayed gratification.

Yet many students come to school unwilling

(and not always expecting) to work hard.

They typically misunderstand that their job is to

construct understanding."

Wiggins, Understanding by Design, 2005.
