Narrative Report on Copyreading and Headlining During District Schools
Press Conference Contests and Workshop
Campus journalists both English and Filipino from congressional district
three, together with other delegates from different schools joined the District
Schools Press conference contest and workshop on Copyreading and Headline
writing via google meet online at one o`clock in the afternoon last March 19, 2021.
According to the resource speaker Abigail Alfajora, “in a technologically
advance society, copyreading is very important”, as she went on discussing the
topic. It is the work and responsibility of a copy reader to correct and edit any
article per se. This is the very reason a copyreader journalist should know first the
basics in writing, grammar rules, factual information and the structure of the article
itself.
This workshop beforehand, was so informative that the campus journalists
were given a comprehensive ideas and knowledge of the most important things
they nedd to know about copyreading and headline writing.
The holding of competitions to test the skills on campus journalism might
have worked to a certain point, however practicing more and reading alot might do
miracles in encouraging the youth to make factual reporting.
Right after the said workshop, the speaker sent a file in English and Filipino
to work on and apply the skills they have learned. Mrs. Rose Marrie Lago Espanar
was assigned to collect the English works, on the other hand, Mrs. Gretchen
Cabiles was assigned to Filipino.
It was agreed that all should submit their work at four o`oclock on that same
day.
Indeed, it is in this conference that the pupils are motivated to become a
socially responsible citizen of the country.
