Electronics - II
Assignment No. 2
Note : Timely submission of Assignment is mandatory.
Deadline is April 13th 2012 (12.00).
No assignments will be taken after deadline.
1. Discuss, using the concept of a load line, how a simple common-source circuit
can amplify a time-varying signal?
2. Discuss the physical meaning of the small-signal circuit parameter ro.
3. Study common source amplifier .What are the changes in dc and ac
characteristics of a common-source amplifier when a source resistor and a
source bypass capacitor are incorporated in the design?
4. Why, in general, is the magnitude of the voltage gain of a common-source
amplifier relatively small?
5. Describe what is meant by a system transfer function in the s-domain.
6. a. What effect does the Miller capacitance have on the amplifier bandwidth?
b. what is the major contribution to the Miller capacitance in a MOSFET?
7. What is the difference between Cut-off frequency and Unity gain band width
when we are talking of high frequency equivalent circuits for FET's
8. Consider an NMOS transistor which is turned off when there's 0 V on
the gate, and turned on when there's 5 V on the gate. A small amount of current
flows into the gate of a MOSFET transistor , well where does this current go?
Does it come out the drain, or the source, or does it split between the two?
9. Do MOSFETs make good current mirrors compared to BJTS . Explain
Why ?
10. Describe the basic principle and working of Basic MOSFET current mirror ?
