PE
Signs/Symptoms (4)
1. Anxiety
2. Feelings of impending doom
3. Cough
4. Hemoptysis
Interventions (2)
1. Administer oxygen therapy to relieve hypoxemia and dyspnea
2. Assess respiratory status at least every 30 minutes
Labs/Diagnostic tests (1)
1. ABG analysis (PaCO2 levels are low, respiratory alkalosis)
2. As hypoxemia progresses, respiratory acidosis occurs.
Medications make note of any specific patient education (1)
1. Anticoagulants- used to prevent clots from getting larger or additional clots from forming ex: heparin,
Lovenox, warfarin
Possible Complications (1)
1. Decreased cardiac output- blood volume is decreased
