Mangrove forests are extremely important coastal resources, which are vital to our socio-economic development and become an important habitat. A vast majority of human population lives in coastal area, and most communities depend on local resources for their livelihood.

Mangrove distribution

A large amount of tropical mangrove forest in Indonesia has been lost due to rapid development in coastal areas, such as, aquaculture, ports, industry, plantation development, housing, agriculture and etc.

How is mangrove condition in Indonesia
