Making a Bohr Model

Bohr Model

  • A diagram that represents the atomic structure of atoms.
  • Only works for atoms with 1 20 protons. Step 1 Find the protons, neutrons and electrons
  • Use your periodic table. Protons = Atomic number Electrons = Atomic number Neutrons = Mass number Atomic number

Example:

  • Carbon^ has: 6 Protons 6 Electrons 6 Neutrons

Practice: Element (^) Protons Neutrons Electrons

Lithium

Calcium

Nitrogen

Step 2 = Diagram the nucleus

  • Nucleus is drawn as a circle.
  • Protons (P) and Neutron (N) are placed in the nucleus.

Example:

Carbon P = 6 N= 6

Example:

Carbon

6 Protons

6 Neutrons

6 Electrons

Practice:

Carbon P = 6 N= 6 E = 2

E = 4 Lithium

Calcium Nitrogen
