SYLLABUS BRANCH VIII LABOUR LAW AND ADMINISTRATIVE LAW FIRST SEMESTER (Common to all Branches) Paper - 1 LAW AND SOCIAL TRANSFORMATION IN INDIA Objectives of the course: This course is designed to offer the teacher and the taught with (a) awareness of Indian approaches to social and economic problems in the context of law as a means of social control and change: and (b) a spirit of enquiry to explore and exploit law legal institutions as a means to achieve development within the framework of law. This endeavour is to make the students aware of the role law has played and has to play in the contemporary Indian society. Criticism and evaluation in the light of colonization and the introduction of common law system and institutions in India and its impact on further development of law and legal institutions in India. 2.
