COVID-19 or CLAUSTROPHOBIC 2020

In India LGBTQ community is facing many problems as many from these community are hiding their true selves and now, they are stuck with their family because of this situation due to coronavirus lockdown, some of them are facing severe consequence after their families find out about their preference. I have gone through various social media platform connecting to these people they have shared their stories, how this lockdown affecting their life, they asked me to don’t reveal their identity which shows that how inhumane we are towards them that they didn’t have courage to openly tell their story, one of the member of their community, Kumar*, a young

gay man living in a town in northern India, was physically assaulted by his family, who then called the police, when they found out his secret. "They found his phone - he was chatting with someone or sharing photos

  • and beat him up," said Shruta Neytra, co-founder of the LGBTQ online youth support group, Yaariyaniii^ his parent didn’t react well though they did the worse thing to him they had beaten him and in this lockdown he is not able to seek shelter from anyone because of this COVID- 19 situation we can see that how vulnerable they are. A transgender woman from

Mumbai tenement flat she shares with her parents and brother. "They

don't beat me any more after I tried to run away once... but being with them

24/7 is still very traumatic," the 21-year-old told AFP. "They insist on using

the male pronoun to refer to me even though I have never wanted to hide

my identity," she said. that’s how LGBTQ community living with the fake

identity. Even LGBTQ Activist have largely advised members of the

community to do nothing until life returns to normaliv. There are many

instances where people have shown their cruelty against them, this

lockdown is tougher for these community than us, A month before the

nationwide lockdown started, parts of Hyderabad city were filled with

posters, saying “Hijras spread corona. Don’t touch them or give them

money." This shows us how human can disgrace themselves.

FLIPPING THE COIN

Now its high time to change the world by changing our own opinion, Once a wise said “ if you want to change the world, Start making your own bed by today” same we should change our opinion, Government and Many NGOs dedicated toward empowerment of LGBTQ community, Regarding this there is recent development The Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) on Wednesday said that the Sector-50 Metro station, which will be dedicated to the transgender community, has been named as ‘Rainbow’ stationv. These are initiatives where government is helping the LGBTQ community to empower not only Government but there are many NGOs name Ya-all have made India’s first transgender football teamvi^ it shows that we are giving them space of their own and its high time that we should accept them whole heartily as one of us, if we see them as abnormal being remember we are not normal not them.

Race, gender, religion, sexuality, we are all people and

that's it. We're all people. We're all equal.vii
