Lab 8: Proportional Directional Control Valve hysteresis

Objective: Have a thorough understanding of the proportional DCV's operation. Determining the roles played by several crucial system components. Determine how flow rate and current are related. A hysteresis curve was created using the data gathered. Procedure:

  1. Using the left-hand rule, turn on the PDP. Then, set the flow to 4 GPM.
  2. Close the pressure release valve and raise the system pressure to 1000 psi before shutting off the motor.
  3. Attach the flowmeter's inlet to the pressure line and its outflow to the proportional pressure port. The PDC’s return port is next joined to the tank.
  4. The ports A and B of the PDCV are linked to the bi-directional motor via hoses.
  5. The PDCV must be connected to the source of variable output power using jumper wires.
  6. The ammeter, PDCV, and power source are all connected in series.
  7. The amps are increased until the motor practically starts to turn after the power supply has been turned on.
  8. As the amps are gradually increased, the motor's flow and speed are then independently recorded in the table.
  9. Using the data acquired, a graph is created, and a hysteresis curve is discovered. Equipment:  Tachometer & flowmeter  Wires  Connecting hoses  Proportional DCV

Circuit Schematic:

Conclusion: In this experiment, a circuit was utilised to examine the hysteresis chart of a proportional directional control valve (PDCV). The table displays the motor's flow and speeds independently when the amps steadily increase. A graph is made using the collected data, and a hysteresis curve is found.
