Scripting for Interactivity

target audIence: Kids to Adults from 5+.

goal: It has to get to the top of the spout and then across the gutter. The more energy he has at the end of each level, the higher the score.

concept: Itsy is broken down into two parts. The first part resembles the classic Donkey Kong game. Water drops will fall from various places on the screen, mostly above ladders. The longer the ladder, the slower the drops will fall. He will be able to climb up and down ladders and jump over worms. Itsy has 2 minutes to get from the bottom of the spout to the top without getting hit by drops of water or by worms. If he is hit by either, he loses ¼ of his energy. The more en- ergy he loses, the slower he moves. If time runs out before he makes it to the top of the spout, but he still has energy left, he is taking back to the bottom of the spout with the same amount of energy to begin again with the timer reset to 2 minutes. However, if he runs out of energy, he dies and the game is over. The player has the option of starting over or exiting the game

The next section has a Surfer theme. As Itsy gets into the spout, he reaches the top, but then has to cross the gutter to the other side. It is in this that it begins to rain. As it starts to rain, has to take a leaf that is inside the gutter and use it like a surfboard to get across. Other obstacles float in the water such as acorns and small piec- es of tree branches that the spider has to dodge from left to right. The game is timed for two minutes again and he still has the same amount of energy from the first level. If Itsy can make it across in time with energy then he wins. The more energy he has, points will be added.

  5. If Itsy is at end then he goes to level 2.
  6. else proceed through this level.
  7. Is he hit? If no, continue to reach end or is hit. If yes, he loses 1/4 of energy and moves slower.
  8. If he does not have energy left the game is over.
  9. If he does not have time left, he is moved to the beginning, the 2 minute timer is restarted and he starts again with the same amount of energy, up to 2 more times.

If Itsy makes it to the top, he goes to the next level. (^) Intro Animation: Itsy climbs up the ladder and into gutter.

Intro Animation: Arrows will indicate what direction Itsy is supposed to go.

Intro Animation: As water begins to flow down the gutter Itsy gets on a leaf.

The game starts with Itsy on the leaf. The user has to move the keyboard arrows to navigate.

If Itsy gets to the end with time and energy he wins. Ending Animation: Itsy runs home.

Itsy has to dodge rocks that are in the gutter as well as acorns and other debris in the water. If hit, he drowns and the level is started over with three tries.
