Insight: Student Guide

September 2021

Students can use Student Insight to see set homework, timetable, reviews, and restaurant purchases. On logging into Office 365 use the Insight Internal & External link at the top of the WGS Intranet Home Page, if accessing externally you can also go to https://wgswitney.org.uk/portals and click on the Student Insight link. You should see this login screen, the ID and password are the same as the ones students use to log on at school e.g. 17Bloggs.S

When you are logged in, you can go to the General drop down list to view: Timetable, Attendance, Restaurant purchases and balance, Homework.

General: School Dinners

This gives details of food purchased through the cashless catering system and will show the latest purchase and current balance, use the arrow to scroll back through previous receipts. Student name (^) username

General: Timetable This gives the timetable for each week’s lessons and opens up on the current week; use the arrows to scroll back and forth to see other weeks. You can also print this page by right-clicking and choosing print.

General: Homework Uploading your homework to Insight

Follow these instructions to upload homework evidence. Evidence could be a photo, a word document or other electronic format. This

evidence facility may not be required for all homework. For example, for homework on systems like Mathswatch, the teacher can

already see if you have completed the work.

The homework will look like this on Insight:

Hints and tips to view the homework list

Sometimes the list of work on Insight can look very long and you might be concerned that you have missed something. Here are two

ways you can filter the list to make it easier to look at.

Click on Subject – you can untick all subjects in one go, click on the tick in the ‘All’ box. All the ticks disappear, now you can tick just the

subject you would like to look at. Please note if work is uploaded by a teacher to a whole year group rather than a class it will not

appear under a subject. It might be under Reg group, Year group, National Curriculum Year or User defined. You will need to click on

those headings too to see what subject work is there.

If you have marked your homework as complete with a tick (see page

above) you can also filter by work ready or not ready. The picture below

shows a list of homework for a student of work ready because they have

ticked to say it is complete. If the student wanted to look at work still to

complete they would tick ‘Not ready’ in this filter.
