DEFINITION 2 Hellenism is a Polytheistic religion, which means they believe in more than one god.One of the main beliefs in Hellenism is that humans are weak and gods are immortal powerful supreme being. They believed that when you died your soul went to one of three places. Those who were worthy went to Elysian Fields, which was a place full of happiness and sunshine and those who were bad went to Tartarus, which is their version of hell. TERM 3
DEFINITION 3 Zeus- King of the gods. He is the god of thunder, sky, lightning, order, law and justice. Hera- Queen of the gods and the goddess of marriage and family. Poseidon- God of the sea, earthquakes and tidal waves. Demeter- Goddess of fertility, agriculture, nature, and the seasons. TERM 4
DEFINITION 4 Apollo- God of light, knowledge, healing, plague and darkness, the arts, music, poetry, prophecy, archery, the sun, manly youth, and beauty. Artemis- Goddess of the hunt, virginity, archery, the moon, and all animals. Ares- God of war, violence, and bloodshed. Aphrodite- Goddess of love, beauty, and desire. TERM 5
DEFINITION 5 Hermes- Messenger of the gods. He is the god of commerce, thieves, and games. Hephaistos- Master Blacksmith and craftsman of the gods. He is the god of fire and the forge. Athena- Goddess of wisdom, handicrafts, defence, and strategic warfare. Hestia- Goddess of the hearth and of the right ordering of domesticity and the family.
