DEFINITION 1
Hellenism is an ancient Greek religion that was practised by
many of the ancient Greeks, especially during the Hellenistic
period (C 323-30 BC). It not practised as much today,
although there are still some Greeks who are Hellenists. The
religion is focused on the Greek myths and legends about the
gods and goddesses.

DEFINITION 2
Hellenism is a Polytheistic religion, wh ich means they believe in
more than one god.One of the main beliefs in Hellenism is that
humans are weak and gods are imm ortal powerful supreme being.
They believed that when you died yo ur soul went to one of three
places. Those who were worthy wen t to Elysian Fields, which was a
place full of happiness and sunshine a nd those who were bad went
to Tartarus, which is their version of h ell.

Zeus- King of the gods. He is the god of thunder, s ky, lightning,
order, law and justice.
Hera- Queen of the gods and the goddess of marriage and
family.
Poseidon- God of the sea, earthquak es and tidal waves.
Demeter- Goddess of fertility, agriculture, nature, and the
seasons.

Apollo- God of light, knowledge, healing, plague and darkness,
the arts, music, poetry, prophecy, archery, the sun, manly youth,
and beauty.
Artemis- Goddess of the hunt, virginity , archery, the moon, and
all animals.
Ares- God of war, violence, and blood shed.
Aphrodite- Goddess of love, beauty, and desi re.

Hermes- Messenger of the gods. He is the god of commerce,
thieves, and games.
Hephaistos- Master Blacksm ith and craftsman of the gods. He is
the god of fire and the forge.
Athena- Goddess of wisdom, h andicrafts, defence, and strategic
warfare.
Hestia- Goddess of the hearth and of the righ t ordering of
domesticity and the family.

and legends.
