INSTRUCTIONS:

2. All answers must be clearly written in the space indicated. Mathematical work must be shown for full
credit to be awarded. You may use a pen (black or blue ink ONLY) or a pencil. Use the correct number of
significant figures in answers to all questions on the exam. Use correct units in your final answers.
3. There are XX questions and a total of XX pages of the exam, including the cover page, grading sheet,
the equations/constants sheet, and the periodic table. All materials must be turned in, including the periodic
table and equations sheet, even if you have detached them.
4. You may use a non-programmable calculator on this exam. All other electronic devices must be shut
off and put away. You may not share a calculator with another student, nor can you use your
phone/laptop/tablet/etc. as a calculator.
5. I reserve the right to move any student at any time during the exam period.
6. You may not open the exam or scan through it before I tell the entire class to begin. You may not write
on the front page of this exam, apart from your name, section, and signature. To do so is to take a 5-point
deduction from this exam.
7. You must circle your section time of either 8am or 9am. If you do not circle your section time, you will
receive a 1-point deduction from this exam.
8. You must take the exam during your assigned class period. If you are found to be taking your exam in
the wrong section (an 8am student taking the exam at 9am, or vice versa), you will receive a 20-point
penalty from this exam.
