Stephanie Hurst Final Project Proposal – ELDS 713 Prof. Ming Tang Statement I have had the opportunity to engage myself in an environment that has challenged me creatively as well as mentally and spiritually while giving a greater understanding of the design world than I ever thought possible. During my time at SCAD, I have developed many projects in my design studios and electronic design classes that I am quite proud of. However, I have not compiled a comprehensive guide to these projects as of yet. At the culmination of any design student’s studies, a well developed and coherent collection of design works is very important. Without a good representation of one’s work, a job offer may be hard to find. When it comes time to apply for my future employment, I wish to include “teasers” of my work with the cover letters and resumes. These “teasers” would entail a quick overview of past projects and concepts as well as to showcase my ability within the architectural field. Also, by utilizing a “teaser” as opposed to a traditional portfolio or CD with images, I can set myself apart from the other applicants. These “teasers” will enable the employer to visualize my graphic and design skills before the interviewing process. Treatment This project will seek to create a visually appealing as well as informative piece of literature for the hiring process. The format for the “teaser” will be 11”x17” and will include four pages. The target audience will be my future employers. The goal will be to stimulate the senses through various images, altered and real, as well as utilizing graphic design and communication skills. The scope of the “teaser” will include three studio projects: concept to form (studio 4), master planning (studio 5), and functional process design (studio 6). The final page will consist of three electronic design classes: Photoshop, Autodesk Viz, and Microstation, in order to showcase my computer abilities. The images will consist of text, 2d and 3d drawings, 3d computer models, sketches, and conceptual design.
