Instructions: Final Paper
This paper is an opportunity for you to view the work of art that you chose with the knowledge that you
have accumulated during the semester thus far. It is this knowledge and reevaluation of the work that will
be the focus of your outline and final paper.
- Your final paper should follow the outline that you created for part two. It must be at least 3
pages in length. TYPED, DOUBLE-SPACED, and in 12-point TIMES NEW ROMAN
FONT and STAPLED. Please DO NOT include report covers.
- As a reminder, your analysis MUST include the following concepts:
oan iconographic analysis
oan analysis of the use of visual elements that apply to your image
(Make sure you review these concepts, and their subcategories, as necessary)
line
shape and mass
light
color
texture and pattern
space
time and motion
oan analysis of the use of principles of design that apply to your image
(Review as necessary)
unity and variety
balance
emphasis and subordination
scale and proportion
rhythm
- Form a concise argument. Why does your painting belong in a museum? Why is it good art?
This should be an informed judgment of the object based on the two parts above, both the
formal and the iconographic analyses.
Plagiarism of any form will not be tolerated. This includes paraphrasing sources found on the
web, in a magazine, journal or book. Do your own work. Please refer to CCP policy on
