Taylor Kearney Ms. Ortiz English 101 BLACK LIVES MATTER IN TERMS OF HOPE The Black Lives Matter movement is a huge part of today’s social movements, and it is one that hits very close to my heart. I believe that when Solnit says that “hope is about the future, grounds for hope lie in the records and recollections or the past” I feel like this social issue explains that very well. As African Americans there have been many social movements through the ages that have brought us to the BLM movement today. We must hope that the “records and recollections of the past” which are the Civil Rights movement and the Black Panther movement. With those we must know in what ways we are using those movements to further others knowledge about how we need to be treated and how the BLM movement will create more knowledge to others in the future.
